Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how MoverAudit ("MoverAudit", "we", "us", or "our"), a platform operated by Accordion Investments LLC, collects, uses, and discloses information when you visit our website and use our tools and services (collectively, the "Services"). It also explains the sources of the moving company data published on the Services and the choices and rights you have. By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service and Cookie Policy.

1. Scope and Applicability

This Policy applies to information collected through the Services: the MoverAudit website, company search, company reports, user accounts, watchlists, and any related features. It does not apply to third-party websites or services we link to (including FMCSA websites, Stripe, or Google), which are governed by their own privacy policies.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide. Browsing and searching MoverAudit requires no account and no email address. If you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password, or, if you sign in with Google, the email address and name that Google shares with us. If you contact us, we collect the information you include in your message. If you purchase a report, we receive purchase confirmation from our payment processor (see Section 10); we never receive or store your card number.

Information collected automatically. Like nearly every website, our servers keep standard technical logs: IP address, browser type and version, device type, pages requested, referring page, and timestamps. We use these logs for security, fraud prevention, debugging, and capacity planning, and they are deleted on rotation. Search queries you type are processed to return results and are not tied to your identity unless you are logged in and use account features (such as your watchlist).

What we do not collect. We do not collect precise geolocation, biometric data, or government identifiers from visitors, and we do not buy visitor data from data brokers.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use a deliberately small set of first-party cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a signed msvk cookie that remembers which reports you have unlocked so you are not asked to pay twice. Neither tracks you across other websites. Full details, including every cookie we set, its purpose and duration, and how to control cookies in your browser, are in our Cookie Policy.

4. Analytics

We currently do not run third-party analytics or advertising scripts on the Services. Aggregate usage insight comes from our own server logs described in Section 2. If we adopt an analytics or advertising provider in the future, we will update this Policy and the Cookie Policy before doing so, and honor the opt-out mechanisms described in Section 16.

5. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate the Services: run searches, generate company reports, maintain your account, watchlist, and purchase history;
  • To process purchases and deliver the reports or passes you bought;
  • To send transactional email you asked for: account access, purchase receipts, and watchlist alerts (see Section 20);
  • To secure the Services: detect fraud, abuse, scraping, and unauthorized access;
  • To improve the Services using aggregated, de-identified usage information;
  • To comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send marketing email. The only email you receive from MoverAudit is email the Services require or email you explicitly requested.

6. Disclosure of Your Information

We disclose personal information only: (a) to service providers who process it on our behalf and under our instructions, currently our hosting provider, our email delivery provider, our payment processor (Stripe), and Google where you choose Google sign-in; (b) to comply with law, legal process, or enforceable governmental requests; (c) to protect the rights, property, safety, or security of MoverAudit, our users, or the public; and (d) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this Policy continues to apply until it is amended per Section 22. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

7. FMCSA and Public-Record Data: Sources, Accuracy, and Corrections

All moving company information published on the Services comes from public federal records released by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA): the Motor Carrier Census, the Household Goods Consumer Complaint database (NCCDB), and Licensing & Insurance filings. This includes business names, USDOT and MC numbers, business addresses, business phone numbers, fleet and driver counts, authority status, and complaint counts by category, all as filed with or recorded by the federal government.

Federal records can lag, contain errors, or change after our last refresh. Company reports mirror the federal source: if a company's information is wrong, the correction must be made with FMCSA (via an updated MCS-150 filing or an NCCDB dispute), after which the record refreshes on the Services automatically. We do not accept payment to alter, suppress, or remove any report, from anyone.

8. Information About Businesses Is Not Personal Information

The Services publish information about businesses: their registrations, authority, fleets, and complaint records. Information that identifies a business (including a business name that contains a personal name, a business address, or a business phone number, as filed by that business with its federal registration) is commercial, public-record information and is not treated as personal information under this Policy. We do not publish private individuals' home addresses, personal phone numbers, or other private data.

9. Fair Credit Reporting Act: Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

MoverAudit is not a consumer reporting agency ("CRA") as defined by the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. ("FCRA"), or any comparable state law. Company reports, grades, and verdicts are not "consumer reports" and are not assembled for establishing any individual's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, or any other FCRA purpose. You may not use the Services or any data obtained from them as a factor in any FCRA-regulated decision. See Section 8 of our Terms of Service for the full provision.

10. Payments

Purchases are processed by Stripe, Inc. Your card details are entered on and transmitted directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. We store only the purchase outcome: which report or pass was unlocked, the amount, and a Stripe reference identifier. Stripe processes your payment data under its own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.

11. Third-Party Services

The Services use a small number of third-party providers: Stripe (payments, Section 10), Google (optional Google sign-in and web fonts served from Google's font CDN), our hosting and content-delivery infrastructure, and our transactional email provider. Each processes only the data needed for its function. Where you choose "Sign in with Google", Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) governs what Google collects on its side.

12. Third-Party Links

Reports and guides link to external websites, chiefly official FMCSA resources such as protectyourmove.gov and nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites; review their policies when you visit them.

13. Data Retention

Server logs are kept for a short rotation window and then deleted. Account data is kept while your account exists; you may delete your account at any time, after which we remove your personal information except records we must keep for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes (such as purchase records). Public-record company data is retained as part of the Services for as long as we operate them.

14. Data Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards appropriate to the data we handle: passwords are stored only as salted hashes, payment data never touches our servers, cookies carrying access are cryptographically signed, connections are encrypted in transit, and administrative access is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; if we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

15. Automated Analysis: the MoverAudit Grade

Each company report includes an A-F grade and a verdict computed automatically from objective public-record inputs: registration type (broker or carrier), fleet size, complaint volume and categories, and past authority actions. This is an informational summary of public records about businesses, not a decision about any individual, and it produces no legal or similarly significant effect concerning a natural person. The methodology is applied identically to every company and cannot be influenced by payment.

16. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Wherever you live, you can: use the Services without an account; decline cookies in your browser (see the Cookie Policy); unsubscribe from watchlist alerts at any time; and access, correct, or delete your account data from your account page or by contacting us. We do not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

17. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect (Section 2), to access and delete it, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary to provide the Services. To exercise any right, contact us per Section 24; we will verify your request using your account email. You may use an authorized agent, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

18. Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and others) have similar rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability, and the right to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and certain profiling. We do not engage in targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or profiling producing legal effects, so there is nothing to opt out of, but we honor access, correction, and deletion requests from any U.S. resident regardless of state. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision email.

19. European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

The Services are directed to users in the United States. If you nonetheless use them from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland: our legal bases are performance of a contract (providing the Services you request), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, improving the Services), and consent where required; you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority; and your data is processed in the United States (see Section 21). Public-record company data is processed under our legitimate interest in publishing lawfully released government records, and in any event predominantly concerns businesses.

20. Email Communications

We send only transactional and requested email: sign-in and account messages, purchase receipts, and the complaint alerts you set on your watchlist. Every alert email contains an unsubscribe link, and disabling alerts stops them immediately. We do not send newsletters or promotional email and we never give your address to third parties for their marketing.

21. Children's Privacy and International Transfers

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them; if you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. The Services are hosted in the United States; by using them you understand your information is processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

22. Do Not Track and Opt-Out Preference Signals

Because we do not track visitors across other websites, do not sell or share personal information, and use no advertising cookies, browser "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals do not change how the Services treat you; where the law requires, we treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out of sale and sharing, which is our default state for all visitors anyway.

23. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The revised Policy will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will provide additional notice where required by law (for example, by email to account holders). Your continued use of the Services after the revised Policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of it.
